Tim Ferriss' The 4-Hour Workweek Mag Ad (Spec)
Target Audience: Adults, ages 24–40, interested in dropping the 9–5 life for a life with more freedom

Tone: Motivational, Inspiring, Informative

Objective: The client wanted this ad to urge the reader to go buy the new edition of The 4-Hour Workweek. The person viewing the ad may have already purchased an earlier edition of this book. It’s important to inform them of all the new resources included in the new edition.
The person viewing this book also may not have even heard of it. That’s why it’s equally important to give a brief introduction to the book after hooking them in.

Tactic: I made the headline a question because the reader’s reaction would be, “Who wouldn’t want a 4-hour workweek? But that’s impossible.”
In the sub headline, I tell them that someone (Tim Ferriss) has achieved it while maintaining an exceptional salary. This makes them want to read the rest of the ad to find out how.
For those who have never heard of it, the first paragraph gives a brief introduction to what the book is about. The next paragraph informs the reader of the new edition of the book and tells them the main new feature. This keeps people who have already bought an edition intrigued.
I also mention that they could have more freedom if they broke out of the 9-5 lifestyle. This is to both tempt them and help them overcome the desire to stay in their comfort zone. I also listed a few more new resources to make the book seem even more worth it.
